AON/CASW Scholarship for Social Workers

Background

Thanks to the generosity of AON Reed Stenhouse, Inc., Insurance Brokers for the CASW insurance programs, the AON/CASW scholarship was established in 2000. This scholarship is intended to assist members of CASW provincial/territorial member organizations in attending the CASW bienneal conference and other selected National and International Social Work Conferences.

Criteria

  • The applicant is a member in good standing of a provincial/territorial association.
  • The applicant has not been a recipient of the AON/CASW Scholarship.
  • The applicant is not a current member of CASW Board of Directors or a Board Member for two years prior to the application.
  • The recipient agrees to write a short article on the social work event attended for the CASW Bulletin.
  • The CASW Board will determine the amount of the scholarship, not to exceed $1,500.
  • Applications will be accepted from member organizations only and must indicate that the applicant has actively contributed to the work of their organization within the last five years.
  • One application per member organization will be accepted.
  • Should the AON/CASW Scholarship not be awarded in part or whole in a specific year it can be carried over to the next year.

Process for Selection

  • Scholarship application forms are available from provincial/territorial organizations.
  • Completed applications are to be forwarded to provincial/territorial organizations.
  • CASW member organizations will select their candidate from the submitted applications.
  • The completed application form of the provincial/territorial candidate must be submitted to CASW National Office by the member organization no later than December 31st of the previous year of the event.
  • The successful recipient will be selected by CASW by means of a lottery of the qualified candidates.

2010 Scholarship

Four scholarship were awarded towards attendance to the 2010 CASWE Conference in Montreal May 30 - June 2, 2010.

Two scholarship were awarded towards attendance to the 2010 Joint World Conference on Social Work and Social Development in Hong Kong June 10-15, 2010.
