Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC) is hosting their 2018 conference in Edmonton from May 2-5.   They are offering a one-day pre-conference session on May 2 on interprofessional collaboration, which is open to all health care professionals.  You can read more about our pre-conference session on our conference website here.

How to Walk the Talk: Best Practices in Collaborative Care

Join us for a full-day of hands-on learning and engaging discussion as we explore practical tips and tools to enhance interprofessional teamwork and collaboration in patient and client care. In light of growing caseloads, dwindling funds and overlapping scopes of practice, interprofessional collaboration is an increasingly important part of health care. Understanding interprofessional practice and how to maximize its benefits are essential for professionals in this changing professional landscape. Clinicians, administrators, managers, academics and those teaching our new professionals can all benefit from this workshop.

Learning objectives

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  1. Describe interprofessional collaboration and its benefits.
  2. Identify principles that guide effective collaborative teams using real and applied examples.
  3. Utilize practical tips to enhance quality collaboration.
  4. Explore how to apply this knowledge to your collaborative teams and specific work setting.

Pre-conference registration is separate from registering for the conference. Non speech-language pathology or audiology professionals can register for the pre-conference at SAC member prices (a savings of $70 from the non-member price) as long as they are members of their respective provincial or national association. Registration information can be found on the conference website here.
