Basic Income Canada Network (BICN) in partnership with the Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN) is pleased to announce that the Call for Session Proposals for the 25th BIEN Congress is now open. The Congress will take place August 20–22, 2026, in Toronto, Canada, and all presentations will be in person.
Congress Theme: Basic Income in a Time of Polycrisis
As overlapping global crises reshape social, economic, political, and environmental systems, this Congress invites bold, rigorous, and creative contributions exploring the role of basic income and income guarantees in this moment.
We welcome proposals for:
- Individual presentations
- Full sessions (panels, workshops, roundtables)
- Posters
- Creative and artistic formats (film, poetry, music, etc.)
Three framing areas for proposals:
- Knowledge — research, evidence, learning, and lived experience
- Action — advocacy, practice, organizing, and movement building
- Connection — cross-sector collaboration and bridging divides
Submission Deadline: April 15, 2026
Notification of Decisions: May 19, 2026
