CASW President Elected as IFSW Global Vice President
OTTAWA, June 6, 2023 – The Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW) is pleased to announce that its President, Joan Davis-Whelan, has been elected Vice President of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) Global Executive Committee. This is an addition to her role as President of the IFSW North American Region.
“It’s an honour to represent Canada as the Global IFSW Vice-President and I’m looking forward to working with my international colleagues to strengthen the social work profession around the world,” states CASW President Joan Davis-Whelan. “I eagerly anticipate the collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and collective impact that we will forge as we work together to address the pressing challenges of our time.”
The IFSW is the global body for the social work profession, with representatives from Africa, Asia and Pacific, Europe, Latin America and Caribbean and North America.
IFSW provides a global voice for the social work profession and advocates for social justice, human rights, and social development on the international stage. They engage with international agencies to provide expertise and input on social work issues and contribute to the development of policies and programs that address social problems and promote social well-being.
