A series of crises has highlighted a few of the realities we witness – and perhaps perpetuate – as social workers. In particular, the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the intertwined effects of social determinants of health that have been systemically neglected or ignored:
inequities in income, employment and housing;
racism, including our own;
violence in relationships; and
vulnerabilities and gaps in health and mental health service delivery.
This virtual conference will create opportunities for members of the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers and others in our community to connect online, plan, discover, and collaboratively develop social justice praxis. We hope you can join us.
