Melanie Polley, MSW, RSW (she/her)

Melanie Polley, MSW, RSW is a Health & Safety Consultant with WorkSafeNB specializing in psychological health and safety. She works with employers across New Brunswick to help create healthier, safer workplaces through consultation, education, assessment, and the development of psychological health and safety management systems. Melanie has experience supporting organizations in implementing evidence-based approaches aligned with CSA Z1003 and Guarding Minds at Work, with a focus on workplace mental health, psychological hazard prevention, critical incident response, and organizational culture improvement. Prior to joining WorkSafeNB, Melanie spent more than a decade working as a social worker in healthcare settings, where she developed expertise in trauma, crisis intervention, mental health, and employee well-being. She is passionate about helping organizations translate research into practical workplace solutions that support both worker well-being and organizational performance. Melanie holds a Master of Social Work degree and is a Registered Social Worker. She regularly delivers presentations, information sessions, and consultation services to employers, industry associations, municipalities, healthcare organizations, and first responder groups throughout New Brunswick.

Description

This presentation is grounded in evidence-based practice, drawing on current research, the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace, and practical experience in social work and occupational health. It highlights the importance of psychological health and safety, the value of proactive workplace strategies, and the role of social workers and social work technicians in fostering safe environments. Evidence-based approaches support better outcomes for both workers and clients.
