Lauren Van Ewyk is an engaging speaker, registered social worker, foster mom and agricultural mental health advocate. She has appeared in numerous radio, television and print articles concerning the issues of adoption, foster care, mental wellness and mental health in the agriculture sector. She and her husband raise sheep in southwestern Ontario, and have developed a niche wool business that won a 2009 Regional Premiers Award of Excellence in Agri-food Innovation. Lauren works with businesses, individuals and families all across Canada to find hope and healing.

Agriculture is an integral partnership between producers and consumers. Farmers experience significant distress as they navigate an ever-changing world that requires increased resilience. Yet, they are less likely to participate in help-seeking behaviours and are at an increased risk to complete suicide (Sturgeon & MorriseIe, 2010). Join us, as we learn about the impact of agriculture on Canadian economics, the issues facing farmers and rural communi5es, and the barriers to accessing services.
