Angelique Jenney, PhD, RSW is the Wood’s Homes Research Chair in Children’s Mental Health at the University of Calgary and Associate Director of the Safe & Understood Project. Wood’s Homes is a multi-service, non-profit children’s mental health centre based in Calgary. Dr. Jenney has over 20 years experience in intervention and prevention services within the children’s mental health and violence against women sectors. Her research and program development interests are devoted to understanding and responding to the impact of relationship violence on children and their caregivers.

Intimate partner violence is a global issue, largely impacting on women and girls – the most frequent victims of relationship-based violence. This presentation will look specifically at the issue of exposure to violence in families on the development of children and youth and implications for intervention involving caregivers.
